Fire Fresh BBQ

Posted by: Sammy

Yup, another barbecue place reviewed on LouisvilleLunch. I can’t help it! There are a lot of good BBQ joints here in beautiful Louisville, Kentucky! Actually, I wouldn’t call Fire Fresh a “joint”…it’s too classy for that. They’re looking to franchise this small Louisville-based chain throughout the Eastern Seaboard. If there are any investors reading this…GO START ONE OR TWO…IT’S GOOD BBQ! Read more »

Fat Jimmy’s Pizza - Italian Week!

Posted by: Sammy

I had to stop at a client’s office near Frankfort Ave. today, and I wanted to grab a quick, yet delicious bite somewhere nearby. Fat Jimmy’s fit the bill perfectly, AND made this week ITALIAN WEEK! yay!

Sportstime Pizza (New Albanian Pub & Pizzeria) - Italian Week!

Posted by: Sammy

Yeah, technically this shouldn’t be on LOUISVILLELunch, but it’s just over a little bridge, and they do serve my new favorite pizza in Kentuckiana (yes, I just used that stupid term…and yes it’s my new favorite pizza). Read more »

Luigi’s Pizzeria & Pasta - Italian Week!

Posted by: Sammy

I’m going to dub this “Italian Week at LouisvilleLunch.com”. Tonight’s Wednesday, and we’ve been to 3 italian places for lunch this week. WhatsaMattah with Us-ah? Ok, I promise never to say (or type) that again. Geesh.

So, Luigi’s…man, oh man. Jam recommended this place for lunch, and I was more than willing to try it. He’s been there a couple times and raved about it.

Crave Café

Posted by: Valentino

Hit & Miss

After a battle of cabin fever from the snow, we were all excited to have a beautiful sunny day to explore a new lunch spot. After some discussion we decided to try Crave Café at 2250 Frankfort Avenue. We had high expectations for this small, but inviting café. I had The Guido, a grilled chicken & pesto sandwich on a ciabatta bread, a cup of chicken artichoke soup and a side of bleu cheese slaw. The sandwich was average, while the soup seemed to be lacking. The combination of the vinegar dressing and blue cheese on the slaw was a bit overwhelming for my taste buds. Read more »

Slow lunch week

Posted by: Sammy

Jam’s been out sick this week, so things have been a bit slow around here. I’m sure no one wants to read reviews of the places I’ve run out quickly for lunch by myself this week. Everyone knows what Subway, LJS and Q*doba tastes like, right?

I did however re-visit Kentucky Barbecue Company again (alone). That’s where I go when I’m feeling lonely around lunchtime (ha ha). My review still stands…excellent food and friendly service. There was quite a big crowd as well. Word’s getting out!

Sitar Indian Restaurant

Posted by: Sammy

This place has generated quite a bit of Highlands buzz. Is Bardstown Road ready for another Indian place? And one with a daily buffet, unlike Kashmir’s weekend-only all-you-can-eat dining (UPDATE: Kashmir now has a daily buffet)? Exciting! But will it take over the long-standing rein of one of Sammy’s favorite Bardstown Road eateries? Read on…

Dublin’s Cellar (Formerly Willy’s)

Posted by: Sammy

The LouisvilleLunch crew used to visit Willy’s semi-regularly. I guess not as regularly than I thought, because last week when we rolled up, we noticed a name change. When we asked the waitress, she said the changeover happened a few months ago. Wow. Way to keep up on the restaurant scene, Sammy! Read more »

Some new features

Posted by: Sammy

I’ve been fancying things up around LouisvilleLunch.com tonight, err… this morning.

Now you can rate our reviews here at the bottom of each post. It’s a quick click after you read a review. If you’re too shy to post a comment, clicking those cute little stars will make you feel like a part of our little restaurant review blog here. We really want your feedback!

Another feature I’ve implemented is polls. So far, I’ve added a “Best Pizza in Louisville” poll. It only shows up on the Pizza reviews. We plan on adding these over time to our posts, so go look for them and vote. It’s more fun than the Presidential primaries!!! We promise!

See the stars down below? Try ‘em out!

El Nopalito

Posted by: Sammy

If you remember from my El Mundo review, I really enjoy Mexican food. Now I’m not sure how “authentic” these types of restaurants are - you know the ones with approximately the same menu - but man, they have some Good Eats, as my man Alton Brown would say.
