I had always heard that the Granville Inn had one of the best hamburgers in Louisville. I think I’ll be able to back up that claim now. This charming Old Louisville haunt is typically filled with regulars watching one of the many flavors of ESPN, drinking a beer and enjoying some really good pub food. [...]

Located on Dundee Road on the Douglass Loop in the Highlands, the Deli has had a kind of identity crisis. My wife and I went to this place opening week a couple years (?) ago. It’s right in our neighborhood, and we were excited to have a nice coffee shop/restaurant/waterin’ hole nearby. Within those [...]

Valentino and I decided to try this popular nightlife spot out for lunch. Located in the “Irish” district of Baxter Ave., this is probably the first of the Irish pubs in the neighborhood (50 years!), and frankly one of the best fish sandwiches this side of Dublin (and it’s cellar).

Nothing’s better than dining alfresco in the early Spring, especially while enjoying a nice beverage in the all-too-familiar Irish setting on Baxter Avenue. Jam, his wife and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and put their fish sandwich to the test. Read along if you will…

Yeah, technically this shouldn’t be on LOUISVILLELunch, but it’s just over a little bridge, and they do serve my new favorite pizza in Kentuckiana (yes, I just used that stupid term…and yes it’s my new favorite pizza).

The LouisvilleLunch crew used to visit Willy’s semi-regularly. I guess not as regularly than I thought, because last week when we rolled up, we noticed a name change. When we asked the waitress, she said the changeover happened a few months ago. Wow. Way to keep up on the restaurant scene, Sammy!

There are quite a few things I’m passionate about in this mortal coil, and here are but three: Barbecue, Beer and Ping-Pong (yep, I call it ping-pong, I’m not one of those ‘Table Tennis” purists). So, if you’re expecting a bad review of FABD, you’ve come to the wrong food blog, my friend.

Typically, I really love this place. I don’t know if we just came on a bad day or what. Maybe it’s the recent remodeling that made them forget how to make great garlic fries. Who knows.

Slowly trying to turn myself into a “beer geek”, Browning’s has turned into a favorite lately. It’s a bit more than I usually like to spend on lunch (I try to stay under $10 whenever possible), but it’s a place I like to treat myself to every month or so. It’s also just a few [...]
