Kentucky Barbecue Company (formerly Bourbon Brothers BBQ)

Wow…another awesome barbecue restaurant on Frankfort Avenue? I’m in hog heaven.

Kentucky Barbecue Company (formerly known as Bourbon Brothers BBQ back on Brownsboro Road) now occupies the old CafĂ© LouLou location at the corner of Frankfort Ave and Pope Street in Louisville’s historic Clifton area. Their pulled pork barbecue is better than I remember, although a bit more expensive and larger than I remember also. SOOO worth it. [...]

El Mundo

I think at least one of my parents must secretly be from Mexico. I would eat this food every day of the week if I could. I mostly love that there are like 5-10 ingredients, but hundreds, nay, thousands of scrumptious possibilities.

So, being such a Mexican food junkie, I know you’ll be surprised to know that I have never been to El Mundo before Jam and I headed out the other day. It’s like, a sin or something, right? This is THE hipster spot for gettin’ yo’ burrito and margarita on, right? Well, let ‘em have it…I’ll be at El Caporal. [...]

DeVino’s Deli

Settled in the middle of all the condos (who’s buying those things, anyway??) being built in downtown Louisville is DeVino’s Deli. Jam and I went there last week to get one of their HUGE slices of pizza. It really is some of the best New York style pizza in town. They also have a good selection of deli (and warm) sandwiches. [...]

Bussman’s Bakery

Jam’s on this new diet, where he has to get dessert after lunch. It’s kinda fun, you should try it.

As we passed Bussman’s Bakery on our way to the Beer Depot, Jam mentioned that this (along with like 5 other bakeries in town) was the best bakery in Louisville. We figured we’d stop on the way back. I mean, it’s the best, right? You can’t not go… [...]

Frankfort Ave. Beer Depot (FABD Smokehouse)

FABD ParkingThere are quite a few things I’m passionate about in this mortal coil, and here are but three: Barbecue, Beer and Ping-Pong (yep, I call it ping-pong, I’m not one of those ‘Table Tennis” purists). So, if you’re expecting a bad review of FABD, you’ve come to the wrong food blog, my friend. [...]

Lotsa Pasta

So, this review wasn’t with the normal LouisvilleLunch office crew, it was with my lovely family (2 daughters and my wife). After a day of running around town, my wife had her heart set on Lotsa Pasta’s great deli. She’s been going there a lot lately.

One of my favorite parts about this place, is that you can grab whatever you want off the grocery shelves to go along with your lunch. We got some tortilla chips and salsa (of which they had samples of). Normally we get some crackers and some of their Gorgonzola and Garlic Cream Cheese Dip (which is making my mouth water just typing it). [...]

Bluegrass Brewing Company (BBC)

Typically, I really love this place. I don’t know if we just came on a bad day or what. Maybe it’s the recent remodeling that made them forget how to make great garlic fries. Who knows. [...]

Juanita’s Burger Boy PHOTOS

Jam and I had to go back to Juanita’s Burger Boy. The review below still stands, but Jam had his iPhone with him, so here are some photos. [...]

Bristol Bar and Grille

What hasn’t been said about this Louisville landmark? You know it, you love it (or maybe you hate it, I dunno). Even with the stink that came out a couple of months ago, the Highlands location was packed full Friday afternoon as my office-mates and veggie friend (who probably needs an alias now as well…we’ll call him Harry) paid our old stand-by another visit. [...]

Juanita’s Burger Boy

The one day neither Jam nor I had our cameras, we decide to stop in at Juanita’s Burger Boy. I don’t know that my 2 Gb CF card would have held all the photos I would have taken at this place. Sooooo much character, I’ve got to do a follow-up review with photos. It’s like a step back in time to another city, with delicious greasy food served with a smile, and some gossip. [...]
