Wick’s is one of those places that almost doesn’t need a review. You’ve more than likely been there before, and either really love it or not so much. Me? I love it. My wife thinks they put too much cheese on their pizza. There is no such thing as too much cheese on a pizza [...]

Sorry I’ve been so hard to find lately, folks. I’m vowing to get back to writing reviews again.
Jam, Valentino and I had some errands to run the other day, and just couldn’t decide where to eat lunch. So, I just kept driving south on Bardstown Road, and we just couldn’t put our finger on where [...]

Although this is technically a chain restaurant (and we don’t review chains here…we all know what they taste like), this place (formerly Gumbo-a-Go-Go) started here and it’s still kinda small, unlike the taste and portions of this cajun fast-casual restaurant.

I really like hot dogs. There…I said it. But not the type that most people think of…made of 3 different types of animals, of parts that you don’t want to know about. What I like is All-beef hot dogs. Kosher. Delish.
Derby City Dogs is right in the heart of the Highlands. You really couldn’t ask [...]

As much as it pains me to say this, I’ve never been a big fan of this “Keep Louisville Weird”, WFPK-supporting restaurant. It’s always just been kinda “meh” everytime I’ve been there. I typically get the Club, and while good, it’s just a Club (no offense!). The times, they are a-changing, folks. My last visit [...]

Located on Dundee Road on the Douglass Loop in the Highlands, the Deli has had a kind of identity crisis. My wife and I went to this place opening week a couple years (?) ago. It’s right in our neighborhood, and we were excited to have a nice coffee shop/restaurant/waterin’ hole nearby. Within those [...]

Valentino and I decided to try this popular nightlife spot out for lunch. Located in the “Irish” district of Baxter Ave., this is probably the first of the Irish pubs in the neighborhood (50 years!), and frankly one of the best fish sandwiches this side of Dublin (and it’s cellar).

Sweet teeth (tooths??) are a hard thing to control. Jam’s is almost uncontrollable, and mine tends to follow suit. The Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen has always been a weakness of mine, for good reason. I’ve never left there thinking, “That was the worst pie/ice cream/cake/cookie ever.” But really, are there any bad desserts [...]

Nothing’s better than dining alfresco in the early Spring, especially while enjoying a nice beverage in the all-too-familiar Irish setting on Baxter Avenue. Jam, his wife and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and put their fish sandwich to the test. Read along if you will…

This place has won so many awards, that I probably don’t even have to tell you how good it is. But I will: It’s good.
Harry and I stopped in for lunch last week because I remembered how cheap their personal pizzas are ($2.99 for cheese, toppings are additional.) They also have great Panino Sandwiches that [...]
