The Granville Inn

Posted by: Sammy

I had always heard that the Granville Inn had one of the best hamburgers in Louisville. I think I’ll be able to back up that claim now. This charming Old Louisville haunt is typically filled with regulars watching one of the many flavors of ESPN, drinking a beer and enjoying some really good pub food. Now, I think Jam and I are regulars here, or at least our ol’ buddy, Jessica makes us feel like we are. In early June, we came here 2 days in a row, which is a first for LouisvilleLunch.com. Wick’s Pizza

Posted by: Sammy

Wick’s is one of those places that almost doesn’t need a review. You’ve more than likely been there before, and either really love it or not so much. Me? I love it. My wife thinks they put too much cheese on their pizza. There is no such thing as too much cheese on a pizza in my humble opinion. That’s like saying there’s too much wet in this water. After the jump, read on about how delicious Wick’s Pizza is… Read more »

Café LouLou

I’ve been hearing so much about this place, that I figured I should get around to checking it out. In August, they are also opening another location where SideStreet/Deli @ Douglass Loop used to be. That’s my neck of the woods, so I thought I’d get a head start and go ahead and fall in love with the place. Everyone else is, it seems! (for reasons I’ll get to after the jump…) Read more »

Twig and Leaf

Sorry I’ve been so hard to find lately, folks. I’m vowing to get back to writing reviews again.

Jam, Valentino and I had some errands to run the other day, and just couldn’t decide where to eat lunch. So, I just kept driving south on Bardstown Road, and we just couldn’t put our finger on where to go. That’s when the awesome vintage neon sign caught our hungry eyes (what?).

J. Gumbo’s

Posted by: Sammy

Although this is technically a chain restaurant (and we don’t review chains here…we all know what they taste like), this place (formerly Gumbo-a-Go-Go) started here and it’s still kinda small, unlike the taste and portions of this cajun fast-casual restaurant.

Genny’s Diner & Pub

SUBTITLE: Mmmmm Good.

When I first moved to Louisville about 12-13 years ago, there was a commercial that ran on late-night cable that made a lasting impression on me. If you’re from around here, you definitely know what I’m talking about. If not, please allow me to reminisce about this commercial that is sooo bad it’s good: Read more »

Derby City Dogs

Posted by: Sammy

I really like hot dogs. There…I said it. But not the type that most people think of…made of 3 different types of animals, of parts that you don’t want to know about. What I like is All-beef hot dogs. Kosher. Delish.

Derby City Dogs is right in the heart of the Highlands. You really couldn’t ask for a better location. It reminds me of something that would be in New York City: just a window where you place your order, on the sidewalk. There’s a nice bar that you can get out of the way to enjoy your dog. The day Jam and I went, there was quite a line formed, almost blocking the sidewalk traffic, which on the corner of Baxter Ave. and Highland Ave., there’s quite a lot. Read more »

City Café

Posted by: Sammy

As much as it pains me to say this, I’ve never been a big fan of this “Keep Louisville Weird”, WFPK-supporting restaurant. It’s always just been kinda “meh” everytime I’ve been there. I typically get the Club, and while good, it’s just a Club (no offense!). The times, they are a-changing, folks. My last visit made me want to write a ravin’ review… Read more »
